Maja Konečnik Ruizzer is an assistant professor in the Marketing Department of the Faculty of Economics at the University of Ljubljana, where she works as a teacher and a researcher. She teaches courses related to marketing principles in general, tourism marketing and branding. Her research interests are similarly focused, encompassing the marketing area, especially destination branding. She has published her work in scientific journals and presented her research at foreign and local conferences. She also acts as a referee in many scientific journals.

• 1998 - she concluded her studies at the Faculty of Economics at the University of Ljubljana. For best faculty undergraduate thesis she received the Faculty award. At that time she started working as an assistant at the same faculty.
• 2001 - she earned a Master of Science degree
• 2005 - she finished her PhD studies

During her education at the Faculty of Economics she visited several famous foreign universities where she worked on her research topic. In 2001 she spent 3 months as a visiting scholar at the Kelly School of Business, Indiana University, USA. Only a year later (in the 2002/03 academic year) she attended a doctoral programme in marketing at the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland. She received a scholarship from the Swiss government.

She is working on transfering her teaching and research experiences into Slovenian business practice. She communicates her ideas through professional articles in Slovenian newspapers and magazines and by lecturing at Slovenian companies. In particular, she likes working as a consultant in the area of strategic brand development.
