Gianni is a BBS lecturer.
After completing a degree in nuclear engineering at the Milan Polytechnic in 1981, Gianni Catalfamo started his career at IBM as a Systems Engineer. He then switched to sales and marketing after moving to Olivetti, where he gained valuable field experience in the finance & banking industries.
In 1986 he founded the Italian operation of Lotus Development Corp., initially working out of its European HQ in the UK, and then setting up the first Lotus office in Milan. His responsibilities at Lotus grew along with the company’s success in Italy which in the seven years of his tenure as Country General Manager moved from two employees and USD 700,000 in sales to 35 employees and over USD 10 million in sales.
In 1993 he joined Image Time as a partner of the agency, offering senior advice on the national and international communication strategy. In 1999 Image Time was acquired by Omnicom and in 2004 it became Pleon where Gianni's top duty was Country CEO for Pleon Italy. For two years he has been European Director for the Technology Practice.
Most recently he assumed the role of European Director of Social Media, which matches his interest in the phenomenon and leverages his experience from several client projects. He also lectures on the subject in Italy and abroad and writes on this topic on the 'Social Media' channel of his blog.
